When setting up rooms with a "Flip Flop" it is best to have 3 rooms.
2 rooms that are the same size with the same # of lights, and a
small room for the ballasts, power and flipflop.
To use a flipflop, you must provide 24 hour a day power to your
ballasts.
We recommend using a heavy duty timer board and remove the on/off
trippers so the ballasts are always on.
The lamp lines from each ballast go into 1 side of the flip flop,
and 2 lamp lines for each ballast come out the other side.
A smaller timer is connected to the flip flop that tells the unit
when to relay the lamp energy from the one room to the other.
It is important that the bulb type for each room match the other eg:
If ballast 1 is a 1000 watt HPS, then Bulb 1A and Bulb 2A must both
be 1000 watt HPS bulbs.
These flip flops can also relay other electrical devices like fans.
Filp Flops work very well and save you power by not having the
ballasts turn off and on.
When ballasts first turn on they use more power than when they are
warmed up and running.
